Pianoforte Tuners' Association
I had to pass a practical test of tuning and elementary repairs, and an oral test of knowledge of tuning, construction and repair of pianos, having first completed an approved course at a recognised college (or trained at a recognized workshop for three years) and gone on to earn my living in this work for three more years to bring my total experience to five years.
About the Membership
I find membership invaluable for bringing people together, keeping up with news and technical developments, the seminars and training days which are organized and the library of specialist books.
It also gives you the added peace of mind to know that I have Public Liability Insurance for up to £5,000,000.
The Association also aims to educate the public on how to look after pianos; the need for regular and skilled tuning and servicing. We have a running article 'Piano Clinic' in Pianist Magazine.
